Goodreads Choice Awards for Best Books 2012

The votes are in and Goodreads has finally announced the winners for their YA Fantasy and Sci-fi genre, as well as their fiction genre. And who are the winners you ask?

INSURGENT by Veronica Roth was the most voted YA Fantasy and Sci-Fi title, racking up almost 24,000 votes! The book, which is soon to become a movie starring Shailene Woodley, centers on Tris Prior and her role as a Divergent within a dystopian society. She deals with love, betrayal, rebellion, and oppression as she continues to fight for loved ones.

In second place came Cassandra Clare’s The Moral Instrument novel, CITY OF LOST SOULS, the fifth book in the series. And in third place was Richelle Mead’s Bloodline novel, THE GOLDEN LILY which is the second book in the series!

And now for the YA Fiction awards! In first place came THE FAULT IN OUR STARS by John Green with about 37,500 votes. In the novel, Hazel was diagnosed with Stage 4 thyroid cancer at the tender age of 14 and suddenly a miracle happens. Now 16-year-old Hazel is faced with returning to her normal life and ends up meeting a beautiful boy, Augustus. He falls for her and Hazel is faced with reevaluating her life thus far.

EASY by Emma Werber won second place, and SLAMMED by Colleen Hoover won third!
