ETIQUETTE & ESPIONAGE by Gail Carriger is one of our favorite reads of the New Year! We have a soft spot for stories with kick butt female characters!
When Sophronia finds out her mother is sending her to finishing school, she is disgusted! After all, she’s more of a hands on adventure type of girl – exactly what her mom doesn’t want her to be. But Sophronia’s in for a huge surprise when she finds out that Mademoiselle Geraldine’s Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality serves two purposes 1) to learn the ins and outs of fine etiquette and 2) train to be an undercover assassin.
Sophronia’s school is one of the most intriguing aspects of the novel and we found ourselves seriously wishing we could attend. After all, where else can you be dressed to the nines and learn how to kill a vampire and properly poison someone? Yes, it’s as awesome as it sounds!
While in school Sophronia makes her fair share of both friends and enemies, manages to put herself in danger and teams up with her classmates to save the day. The names in the novel are fun and quirky and Sophronia and her friends have intriguing and goofy personalities.
If you are to pick out one book this February, we highly recommend it be ETIQUETTE AND ESPIONAGE.
