After a near-death experience, Emberlyn can hear voices. A slight buzz in her head that gradually grows into an unbearable headache, but then it forms into voices. Just a few little words her mind could hear, words that changed her life forever. Ember starts to help the others around her through the voices and even gets her first real friend and boyfriend. She begins to think maybe the gift isn’t so bad.
But reading minds isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. It all started on the day she died, Ember still feels like she left a piece of her behind. Emberlyn never would’ve believed she was actually right. She’s not a normal human anymore; her shattered self is exposed to new threats. Can broken minds truly heal or will their essence continue to shatter until there’s nothing left? Can Emberlyn figure out who she is before it’s too late? Most of all, how will she ever piece herself together if she’s in two different places?
It’s not a story about two becoming one; it’s the story about one becoming two.
